JAMES SLATER

I’m James. Born in Bradford and now living in London via the fine cities of Liverpool and Berlin.

After an unsuccessful stint as a pizza waiter, I turned to directing out of desperation, starting with music videos for bands in the Liverpool music scene alongside my mini-DV-wielding sidekick, Neil. Our breakthrough came with The Coral, directing videos like "In The Morning," and "Pass it On" among others.

Since then, I’ve built a career directing music videos, commercials, and documentaries in both the UK and Germany, where I lived for several years. My work has earned industry recognition, including Vimeo Staff Picks, NME’s Video of the Year (Jamie T's "Zombie"), Raindance Video of the Year (Stealing Sheep's "Not Real"), as well as numerous nominations for Brit Awards and UKMVAs, and several festival prizes.

In 2022, I founded Zomdic Films, focusing primarily on documentary, narrative, and commercial filmmaking. Most recently, I directed Dreaming of You, a feature documentary that serves as a coming-of-age story centered on The Coral.
